Check Valve Background/General Information

In a reverse osmosis system, the check valve is one of the most important and often most neglected components. Its purpose is to prevent back pressure from building inside the membrane. Its placement within the reverse osmosis system is after the membrane where the product water exiting from the membrane must pass across the check valve on its way to the storage tank. Since the check valve allows water to pass only in one direction, the membrane sees no back pressure and, as a result, produces a higher quality and greater quantity of water.

In all other systems requiring a backflow prevention device, the check valve does just that...provides a positive seal that keeps water from backing up into the supply line. Our selection of brass and stainless steel check valves are used in many applications including recreational vehicle, industrial, commercial car wash, and air pumps.
